    The English writer Joanne Rowling is famous all over the world for her novels about Harry Potter. She was born in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom on 31^st July 1965.

         

    Her father Peter was an aircraft engineer at the Rolls Royce factory in Bristol and her mother, Anne, was a science technician in the chemistry department at Wyedean Comprehensive School. When she was six years old she wrote her first book and at the age of eleven she wrote her first novel.

         

    First she went to Exeter University. After taking a degree she moved to London and worked as a researcher for Amnesty International. Then, he lived and worked in Manchester. While she was travelling from London to Manchester by train she imagined a series of books about Harry Potter. Next she moved to Northern Portugal to teach English and she married Jorge Arantes in October 1992. Her daughter Jessica was born in 1993. She get divorced and later returned to the UK to live in Edinburgh. She began teaching and she continued writing in her free time. When she finished her book about Harry Potter, the first three chapters were sent to 12 different publishing houses. After that the book was published in 1997 by Bloomsbury Children’s Books.

        

    Finally she became the best-selling living author in the UK and one of the best writers all over the world.
